More new artworks....

I created a series of smaller paintings that I eventually covered a wall in my house with. I enjoy the way the patterns clash and take up the wall like an ethnic spread. The one on the bottom is a smaller painting of two works that are still in progress. I am obsessively doing circles and squares in various formats. November 9, 2010

Day of the Dead in San Antonio

Went to a Day of the Dead event and Urban 15 was there. Amazing! Love the sound and the procession dancing. Really living in a foreign country. Saw some cool ofrendas to the beloved dead.
They had artists selling their stuff and really nice things for hardly anything. It was at the Aztlan Cultural Center on Fredricksburg. Here is a photo of Richard Arrendondo and the ofrendas he made for his sister, Linda. I thought it to be the best one this year.

A thing about Squares

I am starting this blog to show what I am up to as far as my work is concerned.
I have been influenced by many things and travel is just one of them
. In December 2009 I partook in an artist residency at Foundation id11_Flatlands in Delft Holland. Living in buildings that are slated to be demolished is a very interesting experience. Poptahof is a neighborhood in Delft where "projects" or "flats" house blue collar workers/poor immigrants, etc. It is a big contrast to the old town of Delft. So, to make a long story short...I am into drawing and painting squares right now. More to come on this.
